Avenue July 9

9 de Julio Avenue is one of the main avenues of Buenos Aires. It measures 140 meters wide. Along its route, we can find buildings very emblematic of the city such as the Teatro Colón, the Obelisk, among others.

Originally designed by the landscape architect Carlo Thays, it was inaugurated in 1937. It crosses the center of the city from constitution avenue to the Libertador Avenue. The 9 of July has life all the year, to all hour, mainly to the peaks schedule of office. The avenue is famous for its cuts, protests and traffic jams, but also for the lights, the giant screens that illuminate it at night and, above all, because it is the setting for the celebration of national dates as well as soccer triumphs.
