Don't miss anything

Place Vendôme

It is one of those places that is unique in the world, because it is perhaps the most luxurious square in the world. The representative site of the classic French urbanism.

This square was erected in 1702 as a monument to the glory of Louis XIV's army. They wanted to create a square inspired by the famous Place de Vosges del Marais, created in the previous century, with luxury house fronts.

In the center there was an equestrian statue of Louis XIV destroyed during the Revolution. It is currently an obelisk in honor of each of Napoleon's battles. If you look closely, each of the battles is sculpted at the edges until you reach the top where Napoleon himself is.

However, it is not only Louis XIV that is still there. If you look closely there are suns in each of the facades surrounding the obelisk, to indicate that Louis XIV, the sun king, is still present in this place.
