Funerary Skull

In the center, there is a skull or human skull that sticks out our tongue and around there is a disk fragment. Perhaps an irony of death that mocks the living.

For a long time, it was believed that the pyramids of Teotihuacán, unlike those of Egypt, did not contain a funerary purpose. However, recently a tunnel was discovered between the pyramid of Quetzalcoatl and the pyramid of the sun with hundreds of objects and funerary offerings. They are believed to be remains of rulers of the time. Even the Aztecs, after the decline of Teotihuacan, went on a pilgrimage to venerate death.

It is believed that this skull was placed at some point in a facade decorated with funerary elements of a ritual nature of the Pyramid of the Sun.
