The circus

Georges Seurat. 1890 to 1891.

The circus was one of the attractions that the city had and was represented by different artists of the time such as Degas, Renoir and Toulouse-Lautrec. Later this theme will be occupied again by famous artists such as Pablo Picasso.

It is difficult to believe that this pointillist painting, a technique of which Seurat was a master, only use 4 colors to create this great range of yellow tones.

Seurat who attended as an audience the first exhibitions of the Impressionists could exhibit this painting in the penultimate of the exhibitions of this group and unfortunately died during this same date.
