Saint Jacques Tower
Pilgrims from all over the world chose this place to meet and begin a journey, a long journey of faith that took them to Santiago de Compostela. This bell tower is the only thing that remains of the old church of Saint-Jacques-de-la-Boucherie, destroyed in 1797.
Its bell tower is flamboyant Gothic style erected between 1509 and 1523. If you look at its tip, you can see an image of Santiago. The sculpted symbols of the four evangelists (the lion, the ox, the eagle and the man) appear on the equines. The tower was extensively restored due to its fragility.
